A Lesson on the Value of Some PoE Currencies
While the system of currency that is used in the purchasing and trading of Path of Exile items is executed well, players who are new to this innovative ARPG (Action Role-Playing Game) may still be scratching their heads because they would think it is too complex. The game is designed to stray away from the conventional system of “gold” that other titles use. Players are instead required and encouraged to buy and sell one currency for the other with either players or vendors (depending on what is needed).
There are some currency products that may or may not be difficult to get, so it is a must for everyone to understand the various trading ratios and values. When you are familiar with all the ratios and begin doing business with other players, it will be like going through a PoE (Path of Exile) minigame in which you haggle and barter with everyone so that you can obtain the currency products you require at the most reasonable prices.
Path of Exile introduces 20 different “Orbs” (the common name for currency items). Here is a list of some of these currencies, along with a brief description of their application. They are more or less catalogued by scarcity, so the ones that are listed first are easy to get and common while the ones at the bottom of the list will cost a lot and are rare.
These scraps are quite cheap and drop on a regular basis, to the point that searching for someone to purchase these items is a challenge in itself. There is no need to be concerned though, since it is a good idea to get these and exchange them for high level items via a Chaos Orb recipe.
Making use of Armourer’s Scraps also boosts the opportunity to connect 5 or 6 gem sockets on an article, so if you choose to go for it, you can possibly save on other valuable currencies later in the game with a lot of Armourer’s Scraps. Vendors can trade these currency items for Whetstones.
Similar to the Armourer’s Scraps, these types of currency items are easy to collect and will help boost the quality of an item to a maximum of 20%. Whetstones are only used sparingly and are usually dropped by mobs. Even if this is the case, collect them when you get the chance because all the parts of Path of Exile play their own important roles. The vendors will only allow you to trade these currency items for Armourer’s Scraps.
These kinds of currencies are best used to enhance the quality of flasks, and nothing else. This is why players do not usually need a huge amount of these. On a typical game session, a player may use up 100 or 200 of these baubles, and when his or her character can now use and equip “Hallowed” flasks, the Glassblower’s Baubles lose their significance. The vendors do not have anything valuable to trade for these currency items, and it is rare for a player to be purchasing Baubles.
These forms of currency are very difficult to find, making them an in-demand item. If you manage to collect these, cross your fingers and pray that the game servers will not malfunction. These are primarily used for crafting extra stats to PoE items that are rare, and you will encounter no difficulties when exchanging them for any other available orbs. A handful of the objects in the game that are expensive and are very useful will cost an estimated 30 to 35 Exalted Orbs. Spend these currency items well.
